DJ Mad Max began his official DJ activities on the 8th of February 1983, as resident discjockey in the 370 club in Pforzheim, Germany. He played many styles of music there; Funk, Jazz, Rock, Reggae, New Wave, Punk, Electro, Soul, House and Classics. He spent the summers of 1985-1987 in Ibiza shaping his sound with tribal percussion, a trait reflected in his own productions even today. He moved to Barcelona in March 1988, beginning as resident DJ in Fibra Optica club and switching over to the 8000-person open air discotheque Atlantida club in Sitges in July 1988. That fall he relocated back to southern Germany, becoming resident in Sigmaringen club until 1991 but soon after returned to his native Pforzheim where he undertook the large scale mission of building and overseeing the Opera club. There he most notably organized parties with Sven Vaeth, Paul van Dyk and Gloria Gaynor (live!). Moving to Leipzig in 1993, he became resident and began booking and promoting for the all-new Opera club there. In February 1994 he began co-producing and co-hosting Leipzig's Techno music show "Stunde Null" (Zero Hour) with Raik E. on Saxony’s regional Radio NRJ, producing altogether over 200 LIVE transmissions until December 1997 with guests such as Laurent Garnier, Sven Vaeth, Dr. Motte, Luke Slater, Robert Hood and many, many more. MAD Max also began his monthly residency in Berlin's Tresor Club in 1995, switching over to the Tresor record label in January 1998 where he is still active today. In his twenty-year DJ career MAD Max has played at altogether more than 2300 Shows. Among his other projects are his live shows as Recyver Dogs (with Steve B.) and his own productions appearing on Acacia/Detroit, Definite/Canada, Gold Plate/Berlin and Ungleich/Berlin. |
